Hybrid Solar Inverter Installation Across the Midlands
A hybrid inverter combines a solar inverter and a battery inverter in one device — meaning new combined solar + battery installs use one wall-mounted box instead of two, and existing solar can be upgraded to support battery storage by replacing the existing inverter.
✓One device replaces solar inverter + battery inverter
✓Higher round-trip efficiency vs AC-coupled batteries
✓Cleaner installation, less cabling
✓Battery can be added later (battery-ready hybrid)
✓Native solar self-consumption optimisation
When a hybrid inverter makes sense
Two scenarios. (1) New install combining solar + battery — hybrid inverter is cleaner and slightly cheaper than separate inverter + battery inverter. (2) Existing solar where the original string inverter is approaching 10-12 years old (end of life) — replace it with a hybrid, ready to add battery now or later.
Hybrid brands we install
SolaX X-Hybrid G4, Fox-ESS H1 / H3, Solis Hybrid. We don't have a brand preference — match to your existing solar inverter manufacturer, battery brand preference, and budget.
Frequently asked questions about hybrid solar inverter installation
Can a hybrid inverter work without a battery (yet)?▼
Yes — install the hybrid now, add the battery later. Saves the cost of replacing the inverter twice.
Does upgrading my existing solar inverter to hybrid require DNO notification?▼
Yes — any inverter change goes through DNO G99/G98. We handle it.
Upgrade any package to the Fox ESS EP12 (11.52kWh) for £995.
All package prices assume every panel fits on a single roof elevation. The price covers the cost of scaffolding to one elevation. If your roof needs scaffolding on more than one elevation, or has restricted access, that additional cost is quoted separately after survey. Prices include VAT. Domestic solar and battery storage is zero-rated for VAT until 31 March 2027. Subject to a free technical survey. We will confirm the final price in writing before any work is booked.
